John was born and raised in Tifton Georgia where he graduated from Tift County High School in 2001. John attended college at the University of Georgia, where he majored in Political Science with a minor in History. While at UGA, John was a four year recipient of the HOPE Scholarship, and was also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Delta Epsilon Academic Honor Society in addition to being named to the Dean’s List throughout his tenure at the University. John was also an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, a co-chairman of the UGA Student Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, and also had the honor of being a member of the Gridiron Secret Society as a student. After graduating cum laude from UGA in 2005, John attend law school at the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University from where he graduated in 2008. John is the son of Brother and Helene Fleming of Tifton Georgia. Brother Fleming is an attorney with Sims, Fleming, and Benson where he has practiced for over 30 years. His older sister is an instructor with the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy, as well as a clinical pharmacist with St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, while his younger sister, Ridley, is a sophomore at Valdosta State University. He is married to Caroline Horne of Macon, a former school teacher with Bibb County Schools, and they have one daughter, Libba.
